Not sure if it is going to come out. I just wanted to tell you that my Dominique hen has a comb kinda like that and hers never came out. How old is he? My Dominique hen is a year old so I don't think my hen's is ever going to come out.I have a d'anvers cockerel with an inverted nipple comb. It's why his name is Nipple lol. Will the point of his comb come out or is he just gonna have this weird outie belly button looking thing going on just bigger?
Thanks!!
7 weeks old.Not sure if it is going to come out. I just wanted to tell you that my Dominique hen has a comb kinda like that and hers never came out. How old is he? My Dominique hen is a year old so I don't think my hen's is ever going to come out.
Then it might still have a possibility to pop out!7 weeks old.
After a deep digging I've found this is a disqualification and is called an inverted spike. I may be able to breed it out but it is a mutation that's hard to get rid of. This is kind of upsetting, 2 of the 3 birds I hatched from blue barn have disqualifying features and they were sold as show quality. Then it might still have a possibility to pop out!Not completely sure though!
Oh well that's too bad. After a deep digging I've found this is a disqualification and is called an inverted spike. I may be able to breed it out but it is a mutation that's hard to get rid of. This is kind of upsetting, 2 of the 3 birds I hatched from blue barn have disqualifying features and they were sold as show quality.I was hoping to keep him and hatch some more babies but the only cockerel I got that was the most solid bird was taken by a bird of prey last week. Such is my luck..
I wish I was having this problem with a Dominique. At least then I could find a better boy. It's a colossal challenge to find any d'anvers let alone a real nice porcelain cock. I wish more people were interested in them. After a deep digging I've found this is a disqualification and is called an inverted spike.
