Any ideas on fly control?
My Rouens have a grass floor to the coop and they have been pooping so much the floor is mostly poo now and the flies are lovin it. Are the flies bothering my ducks? Do I need to take action?

Honestly I'm really bad at cleaning my coop and the first signs of flies is usually when I do it. I just rake out as much yuck as I can and just rake it over to the side of the yard in the tall grass by the coop. My coop is only for night time or really bad weather. So that helps to keep poop buildup down. They free range during the day until like 10, 11, 12 even 1 o'clock in the morning. I always leave a window open just to listen but as long as my dog is awake I have nothing to worry bout. That and their isn't much for predators around here (that will come into the yard anyway). But during the months when there's grass I just pick the tall grass or rake up the lawn clippings and throw them in there on top of the other bedding. Then during the fall I do a total clean and then add wood shavings from TSC. I add a bag of them every two weeks and that works for the winter.

i have 4 rouens that are 10 weeks old(one is a male and the other three are hens). when should they start to lay eggs and will they incubate and hatch baby ducks? will one drake be enough for fertilizing 3 hens?

Ducklover31s profile pic is of a mallard drake I think. One male is perfect for your 3 hens. They should start to lay anytime after 18 weeks. I've heard rouens are good mothers but as this is my first time with the breed I don't have any experience with that yet.

ya it looks like a male and I don't know what to tell you about the bill problem that's strange I honestly didn't think that there could be blood in the bill

it should heal given time. I'd watch it to make sure it doesn't get infected though. Triple antibiotic would work as long as it doesn't have pain reliever in it as that's toxic for ducks. As long as it doesn't get infected he should heal up nicely. Watch his behavior too. If his health seems to be affected I'd add electrolytes in his water as an extra boost.

I have two Rouen ducks. We

let our two duck out of their pen for the first time four days ago and the one flew in my pond. So my daughter caught the other duck and put him back in the pen. Then the one that flew in my pond came back. So the next day I let them both out again. The same one flew back into my pond. This time I caught the other one and my son wanted me to put the second one in the pond, so we put him in the pond. This time they didn't come home it's been two days and two nights. I can see we're they are now. Does anybody know how we can get them out of the pond. I'm afraid something will get them. They are only two months old.
