we have 12 golden comet pullets, around 11 weeks old now. The home we moved into had this round coop in the corner of the lot, I believe the previous owner kept some guineas in it. It is approx 12 feet in diameter, with metal sheeting on northwest side to block cold winter breezes. We put up 2 2x4s that run across and an electric fence around the base to keep coons and critters out. We let them out during the evening to roam around but was thinking of making some sort of run outside the door for them to go outside more during the day. What do you all suggest as improvements?

I have a fully covered run with bottom fencing to keep out digging prey. A timed motor will work great to make a auto matic door. But you will need a decent sized run.

I would build them the biggest run I could and cover it for Raptor Protection, bottom skirting to discourage "diggers" and perhaps some solid roofing over part of the run (attached to the coop roof perhaps) for rain protection. If you fasten this to the coop walls, then the flock will have a great home.
