Round Worm Treatment

Hi everyone! New chicken momma here! Got my 6 girls last Sept. and they are just at 1 years old now. (2 Americaunas, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 Dominque and 1 Buff Orpington. This morning while cleaning out their coop I found round worms in just one of their droppings under the roost, so I went straight to the feed store and they told me to use WormEze Liquid. It says that it's for cats and dogs but could be used for chickens also. The lady I normally deal with there is out on maternity leave.... So my question is have any of you used this before to treat your chickens? If so, how do I treat them with it? (How much to drop in their water bowl). I'd hate to over medicate them or not give them enough to do the job. Thx in advance for any advice!
 
Welcome to BYC! It looks like it's the same active ingredient as Wazine, but at a different concentration. Let me see if I can figure it out a dose for you.

What do the directions on you bottle say?
Administer 1 teaspoonful (5ml) per 5 pounds of body weight. *Apply into pet's mouth or mix into food or water. * Administer to cats and dogs 6 weeks or older. *Repeat treatment in 10 days after first treatment.

So, I was figuring that I have 6 girls, weighing an average of 5 lbs each (some more, some less) was to just add 6 x's 1 teaspoonful (30 ml's) to their water in the morning. Does this sound right? If this is correct, then how much water do I put it in that it is effective and not so diluted it won't work? SO sorry! Just want to do it correctly, and not over medicate them!

There are different forms of Piperazine. Piperazine base is only the Piperazine part in Piperazine Citrate. You need the molecular weight to convert. That pic above is saying Piperazine Citrate is 40% Piperazine base.

Piperazine = 86.14 g/mol

Piperazine Citrate = 278.26 g/mol
https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/Piperazine-citrate

86.14 / 278.26 = 0.309 or 31%. This is saying Piperazine Citrate is 31% Piperazine base which doesn't match what the pic says for some reason.

Here is a table that shows the different forms of piperazine.

Wazine 17 = 17 g of Piperazine base per 100 ml of suspension (170 mg/ml). Present as Piperazine Sulfate.
Wazine 34 = 34 g of Piperazine base per 100 ml of suspension (340 mg/ml). Present as Piperzine Sulfate.
So with that dog/cat medicine above you have 110 mg of Piperazine base per 5 ml of suspension (22 mg/ml). Present as Piperazine Citrate.

Any recommendations on what to use instead of this "WormEze"? I will gladly go back to town tomorrow and buy something else that is much easier to determine how much to use.
 
I'm not sure what the chicken dose is for wazine 17 or wazine 34 is but now that casportpony has the information above in "blue", she can now calculate your dose.
