Round worms, right?

New here and first thread I have seen about worms so I’m just gonna ask here rather than make a new one….but do you deworm chickens the same you do dogs? Like as often? Or at a certain age? Or only if you start seeing them?

Depends on location. You can also have fecal floats done if you have a vet that will do one for you to determine the worm that you are dealing with. @dawg53 and I are in Florida so worms are constant.

How often you worm chickens depends on you soil conditions. If your soil is warm moist or wet most of the time, you'll have to worm your birds frequently.
If your soil is rocky or mountainous, cool/cold or desertlike, you may not have to worm your birds often.
Chickens constantly peck the soil and swallow whatever, including unseen worm eggs.

Ok. I would have to say somewhere in between. For sure not dessert or mountain but not always met or moist…. Thank you!

Ok. Luckily I just have some little ones right now. They haven’t really ventured outside. I just started taking them out for a little while if it’s nice out. I’m in Illinois.

So spin of question, can I give denegard in their water after the dewormer? Last time, the deworming made respiratory disease symptoms show up.
