I have a Royal palm tom and 3 hens that are right at a year old. I am wondering at what age they will get their black tips on their feathers?
I figured it would be after a molt but they have yet to really molt. We even recently moved their coop to another area of the yard so they were even stressed some but we are still getting eggs regular and no sign of a molt.

yup that is what I ordered from the hatchery. we also ordered in Burbon reds that went to my MIL.

Actually the tom has one wing feather that has some black but that is it.

I am still at work and dont think I have any in photobucket but let me check.

These are the only ones I have in photo bucket and they were about 5-6 months old in those.

I am heading home from work and will try to get a better pic when I get home.

Sorry but you do not have Royal Palm Turkeys. My guess would be Midget Whites from the size of them. The Midgets have the long stream lined body and the White Hollands would be bigger and have a much bigger breast. Look at the pics on our website we have pictures of both.

Well I would maybe agree with you that they are not however the hatchery that I used only hatches 2 white color birds Royal Palms and White broadbreasted. Now according to things that I have read and it could be wrong but it is my understanding that when the eggs are AI then the chick is infertile? or that is my understanding anyhow. And the hatchery AI's there white Broadbreasted. Now I mention this as the tom is a daddy as of a couple of days ago.

Anyhow maybe a current picture would help.

Agree not royal palm there sorry

The reason they AI the meat turkeys is that the toms are so big alot times cant breed and if they try hurt most females only way they could be infertile would be hybrids

So then how could he have a youngen'??? If the hatchery only hatches Royals and White broadbreasted.
