royal palm vs midget white

Are they relatively the same bird? Just one has a bit of black? in your experiences is one a better breed than another? I wanted midget white for their size but I was reading my Welp brochure and realized Royal Palms are the same size and they are easier to get my hands on. So I'd like to know peoples experiences with these breeds

The Midget White was developed as a smaller meat type turkey, the Royal Palm is more of an ornamental turkey. If you are looking for a table turkey the Midget is the way to go, they were voted the best tasting turkey in a blind taste test done by the ALBC last year, from personal experience I agree with that 100%.

For our birds the Midgets are more friendly than the Palms but when people come to the farm the Palms are the ones they seem to notice first.

They are for the table as well as reproducing but basically for the self reliance factor. Reproducing for my own table LOL

I just went to your website. I see you hve Beltsville Whites too. How do they compare to the Midgets?

Well I just kept on reading

i want to order the Beltsville White hatching eggs this Spring!! I will have to wait til we are done with winter here so there is no chance the eggs will freeze lol. Let me know when you will have eggs available from them any time after Mid march!

The Belts and Midgets are very close to each other size wise. The Belts are the better egg layers, and fuller in the breast area. Taste wise the Midgets are better.

The Belts are laying now, they started before Christmas and they will lay thru the early summer. We can add you to the waiting list for the breed you want. Please send an email to [email protected] with breed, number wanted, and when you want them. The mail box here on BYC isn't big enough to keep track of orders so that's why we ask people to send to yahoo.

my friend got her hands on some really BIG ones a couple months ago. I think she said they were out of Kansas. They are big and really easy going dispositions. I have five eggs coming from them in the spring, from trades. I do plan to get some Midget Whites eggs from you in the spring as well. If your eggs are limited, could you put me on a waiting list?

The Midgets aren't laying right now but it shouldn't be much longer, they are starting to show signs of mating. The Beltsville's are laying well and the Hollands are picking up more and more. With any luck pretty soon we will be knee deep in turkey eggs.
