Rude chickens haters...

Well, they won't touch my eggs, think it's creepy or something (I know, I know) but my family definitely will! But I am truly over it because God is so good!

I'm a nurse and do home health care (take summers off to stay with kids). I wasn't going to go back to work (it'd be tight!) because we're so far from where any patients would be with the company I worked for I would be driving forever!

So yesterday I go to the tiny local grocery and I see a woman I used to work with (also a nurse) and she tells me about the wonderful home health co she works for right here in town! And the farthest she travels is 20 min! And she's sure they would hire me!

Then my hubby calls me this morning (he's a firefighter) and tells me he got a transfer slot he just put in for and it starts tomorrow! Which basically means we get a really good hunk of money extra every month!

THEN I get all these awesome responses from all of you!

I guess I kinda hijacked my own thread, but no more complaining out of me! (for awhile anyway

Thanks everyone!

That's great! Keep up the great work and keep smiling.

I get a lot of funny looks when I tell people I make chicken diapers and saddles.

They say "What?" I just smile.

This is one instance where it is best to just take the bull by the horns. Hints and subtleties just don't work. The next time one of your "friends" makes snide remarks about your chickens, tell them straight out you like your chickens and are very proud of them. And if they can't share your happiness, they can at least have the decency to keep their negative opinions to themselves. That said, methinks you need new friends. These people don't sound like friends to me.

Oh yes..been there done that. Had a neighbor once stop by uninvited...and when my little SLW started raising heck I went and got her from the brooder. she went to my shoulder and was perched in my hair. The neighbor freaked...told me she was disgusting and a nasty cannibal.

I threw the neighbor out of my house...I like the chicken better anyway.

lol i'm sure we can all relate to your situation. i get that all of the time. but they dont have much to say when they come by to pick up some fresh eggs.

All of my family & my best friends are excited about my chickens! My co-workers love to hear about the antics of them! That being said, all but one co-worker wants to buy eggs from me (WHENEVER the hens decide it is TIME to start laying LOL). One co-worker states she doesn't want fertile eggs. I told her I have at least three roosters, the eggs probably will be fertile, she started complaining & I told her to be quiet becasue she doesn't need to worry about my eggs as I will not sell or give her any! It's her loss, not mine! You tell your "friends" that you get enjoyment & relaxation from your chickens . It is a fun hobby to have. My husband even enjoys watching my chickens.... You go girl! Enjoy, Theresa
