Ruined, beyond hope cockerel? *Graphic Photos*

New hampshire reds.... the one rooster who wants only one roo on the property and to be with his girls. A natural born trait of solid protection. That is the only time we have a problem. I fix that by turning around and putting my foot between his legs on chest and gently send him flying up backwards until he stops. This last one, he came back 6 times lol. It feels like you are just scooping them up with your foot and tossing him far as you can. Doesn’t hurt them but you have to be the alpha or they will continue until they are eaten or sold. I ain’t letting no Roo take my alpha spot lol.

That's they right way to kick them. It doesn't hurt them, but it sure gets their attention.
:thumbsup

There's no right way to kick an animal. :hmm

You chose the word “Kicking”

It is more like picking up a soccer ball with your toes.
Get flogged. I promise you NONE of my roosters get more than they give. Most of them live like Kings.

Would you care to give your suggestion for handling aggressive roosters?
I would be glad to change my behavior towards him if it keeps me the alpha and also avoids a 6 inch cut on my elbow nearly loosing my life when he nicked my artery.

The way I handle works great and corrects them in a day. No kicking, just lifted assist. Now... when I lift my foot they all look at each other and go the opposite way. I spanked my kids too. They are doing well, no reprecussions!

You shouldn’t kick a rooster at all period. A roosters mind doesn’t work like yours. If it did he wouldn’t come after something 20 times his size.

Once a rooster starts to come after you generally it's all over. Most will not stop, and will continue to stalk you.

I raise mine so they are wary of me. I don't let mine become familiar with me. This year's batch of boys run away from me. They will all grow up to be respectful, all mine do.

If by change one was stupid enough to attempt to come after me it would be penned up and butchered. Violence begets violence. The more you kick the more the bird comes at you.

I am sorry, I thought You accused me of violence but what you said was that kicking doesn’t help. Well, actually it did which is why I suggested it.

The only rooster that has given me issues is a New Hamphire Red.
I guess if I had more than one I may want to kill them too. I will stick with the rooster that likes me. Thanks for your suggestion but not for me.
I don’t even name or speak to them. Ignoring them is just better for me.

No, @EggWalrus said something about the right way to kick a chicken, I just said there's no right way to kick a chicken. If a rooster came at me and I had nothing to defend myself with I probably would kick at it too as my first reaction, but it shouldn't be a way to manage a rooster long term. So all just a misunderstanding. I was addressing @EggWalrus . :frow

I.am.not.a.chicken.
I don't care if he crows in my presence, except this morning in the coop it hurt my ears....but I didn't chase him off and he didn't attack me.
Mr Spot has crowed while we are in there and for over two years has never attempted anything. Mr Toughie never crowed in my presence but he had to be culled last month because he actually started drawing blood. I still have the marks on my calf.
