several years back there was a pamphlet circulating to new people building on what had been farm land about the "smells" they would be smelling.

Funny story, my dad uses chicken manure to fertilize his fields. He gets it by the tractor trailer load from a chicken farm. He was talking to one guy he met from there who said he wasnt allowed to use it because the folks who built houses in the development next door complained about the smell. My dad set him up with the people who come spread treated sewer sludge from Phila on the fields. That guy signed up with a huge smile.

On #4 ... while I have been known to 'straighten up' the house, I'm more likely to be 'redding it up.'

Again, while we were living in NC ... one Saturday morning, as usual, the family was 'redding up the house' before we went on with our weekend activities. One of my daughter's friends called to see if she could come over and she said 'as soon as we are done redding up the house.' After a pause, she asked 'why we colored our house red every weekend.'

As the PA Dutch that has influenced my life, most colorfully !
