I tried posting about my little one on a really old post but I don’t see it showing up. So I figured I’d try again. I hatched a batch of eggs this spring out of my black Australorp rooster. One of the chicks looked like her legs were put on in the wrong place and I almost culled it. Im glad I didn’t now! Im not sure if she’s out of my Rhode Island Red, barred rock or red sexlink girl. Do any of these breeds carry the rumpless gene or is she a genetic “oops”? The silver baby with her hatched the same day and is the black australorp roo x Americauna(I believe)(lays light green eggs) hen. It’s much smaller than the silver baby which leads me to believe it’s a pullet and the silver a cockerel. What do you guys think?

She's so cute ! I know nothing about chicken breeds, so sorry, but I love her little rumpless look lol. I have a couple of rir 2.5month old chicks with basically no definitive tail, the feathers on the rump just froof out, they've looked like that since they started getting feathers. I'm curious about yours, also glad she's still around :)

I have one Australorp chick that still doesn't have much of a tail at 10 weeks, so that gene may have come from the Australorp. Do you have a picture of the Ameraucana? If it's a light green egg it may be an Easter Egger instead of an Ameraucana.

I can go snap one real quick

I’m positive. I was super stoked that I got to watch all 5 of the babies hatch this time. EE huh? Well cool! Here all this time I’ve been wrong. I should post a pick of my whole flock and play a game of name the breed!

It ends abruptly. Right at her hips it seems like. The EE isn’t the mom of it though. It would be either a barred rock, rir, or red sexlink
