Run debate

So I have acquired a 10x10 dog kennel. If it were your setup would you cut into the kennel and hardware cloth to connect them? If so what would you do to protect the chickens from being scratched on the wire? Would you just manually put them in the kennel instead? Ugh logistics drive me crazy. I sort of want them connected so they can go back in the other run which is more protected. On the other hand if I cut a hole in it it won’t be!

I would cut the wire and connect it -- trimming out the opening by sandwiching the wire between 2 pieces of wood.

You can create a pop door between the two areas so that the inner area will still be more secure when you close the pop door.

What are you connecting it to?
Can you arrange the kennel panels so you don't have to cut them?

I’ve done more predator proofing since then but this is my current run. I feel like I will need to use all the panels in a square bc dimensions would be weird if I didn’t. I also think it’s best to cut a whole in the hardwire at the front. The sandwiching that is recommended is exactly how I attached the run to the coop and I cut through that side of hardwire cloth. I haven’t made a door before my coop came with one but I think I could figure out how to make a drop down ramp style door.
