Run-down chicken

Thank you for that link ChickenCanoe, very informative. I know when I ordered Gro2Max we had to get it from the States as they don't market here in the U.K. After reading the testimonials I am well impressed and am looking forward to seeing improvements in my hens very soon. Thanks again for your help.

Molting can take a lot out of a hen. They can lose a lot of weight. Like others suggested, keep her protein levels high. Mealworms are a great, high protein treat. As soon as she grows her feathers back in, then she will start regaining her weight to a safe level. A pale comb just shows that she is not laying.

Thank you Happy Chooks, am feeling a lot better about my little girlies now, they are on higher protein as well as a probiotic.

OMG that is a 'hard moult' poor hen, it must have been really uncomfortable for her. Fortunately Bea's moult is not that bad. I am now feeling confident, thanks to all your replies that things will soon get back to normal on my 'funny farm'. Taken great interest in reading that link on Gro2max. There is so much to learn about keeping backyard chickens, despite me researching as much as I did before I got my girlies. Thanks so much Back Yard Chicken forum, you are amazing!
