Run fencing

It really depends - some birds are more inclined to wander than others - if the run is large and interesting enough to make the outside world less appealing it works to keep them less inclined to hop the fence. One consideration in clipping is that it is best to clip just one wing vs. both as a bird can sometimes overcome a two-wing clip job enough to make short flights, but one wing being clipped adds imbalance to the equation.
 
It's a 50' x 150' fenced in area, so should be interesting enough,my dogs keep the big predators away,but funny enough are afraid of the chickens.I clipped their wing right before winter at about 7 weeks and didn't give any indication they wanted out,so I'll try again when the ground dries up and some greenery grows.
