I don't know if it matters, but the run my husband made for our three seven week old girls is very long, but not terribly tall. Somewhere between 2 1/2 and three feet tall. I know that it doesn't matter much since they are still small, but what about when they are full grown? I have an Australorp that looks like she'll be a big girl, an Iowa Blue who is supposed to be smaller and an EE. Any advice?

They won't be 2 and a half feet tall - room for them is fine. Room for you might be inconvenient if they lay an egg in there, or a bird gets sick/hurt/stuck/etc...

Mmm...good point! neither one of us are interested in putting a chiropractor's kid through college!

You could hinge a roof panel on the run every so often and so that you could raise them like a car trunk or such if you don't want to make it taller....
