Run or no run that is the question

I would have a run on the coop that you use. Mine had a run and run of the yard every day until this week when something killed 3 of them and attached one in front of my house but she got away. But we live out in the country surrounded by woods and our horse fields

I'd say it's best to have a run. I'm new to chicken keeping, but I've heard my neighbors talk about and seen posts, YT videos, etc. where they need a very secure run for their chickens to go into in case of a cat, avian flu outbreak, raccoon, crazy storm, etc. If they need to be penned up, I'd personally say it's better for them to have a little run so they can get some time outside of the coop for at least a little bit. I'm guessing it's also way easier to get them all into the coop for you or your rooster if they need to be herded in; they won't be able to run out at all directions once they're in the run. :p
