Gotta love the insect and flower photos! People ask, "don't you take pictures of people?" My response tends to be along the lines of "whatever for?"

I have a Canon Powershot A650 IS, which is one step below a SLR. I do have a film Rebel (old school!) and loved it, so I think I'll eventually spring for a digital Rebel.

I don't know how to add "who" said what in my quotes, sorry.

My mom told me once to take pictures. I told her I always do. She said, "Of People!!!"

My film SLR was an olympus omg. I miss the simplicity of those cameras. I end up using auto on the digital because by the time I'd figure out where internally the settings would be, the shot would be gone. At least on the SLR everything I needed was on the lens.

You folks are too funny! I had no idea what those bugs were until now. I took these photos with a dinky Canon Powershot Elph 100 HS. Sometimes I use a Kodak Easy share-an old one, and one not quite as old that was found in the trunk of the hubby's police car. He don't remember where it came from. I also have a Nikon I found in a closet at work. I took this as a sign to get back into photography. So I started clicking the shutter once again.

Just a side note: The micro mini Canon was about three inches from the critters, but I managed to calm my nerves and get the last two photos reasonably clear.

As Ansel Adams said: The most expensive camera in the world can't take a good picture without a good photographer.

I wonder what he would think of our digital world?

A true photographer, whether professional or not, takes hundreds of pic to get one good one. I went to New York in 2003 and all I had was a Fuji disposable. From that bunch of pics, I got an AWESOME photo of the cross gridirons that was found in the wreckage of 9/11 and stood inside that hole for years. Unfortunately it was film so I cannot share a pic of it.

Wow, oldchick....
Fantastic photography, not quite sure what to make of the subject

I hate looking up and discovering I have something crawling inches from where I'm standing...

I thought assassin bugs, too, but I think the other option is probably correct.

I'll tell you what's creepy. Without knowing what it was, a few years ago I placed an assassin bug into a container with some crickets. We left the house, and came back about an hour later. All the crickets' innards were gone - they literally looked like empty shells.

Q9, wow, that's creepy! I had assassin bugs all over my sunflower heads. I went to cut them off (full of seeds) and they swarmed. Scared the bejeebers out of me, lol. I've never been bitten by one, but have heard that they do bite.
