Fyra and Echo began to drag Willow's body toward the mountainside. The white she-wolf was rather small, but heavy to Fyra and Echo who already had dread in their hearts. Fyra motioned to Cody with her tail to follow them.

Cody barely had the strength to rise to his paws. He trudged after Fyra and Echo with a drooping tail and his eyes to the ground.

As the threesome trudged up the mountainside, Willow's blood made a steady crimson trail on the path. Fyra didn't notice it, and was instead drawn to the intense beauty. She had never been this far up the mountain; although Willow had told her about it, along with detailed instructions on how to get there, it was as different as black and white. Willow's description had made the place seem like just a random mountain among others just like it, but in reality it was heavenly. Slate gray mountains with blinding white snow-caps touched the vibrant blue sky at the end of an expanse of bright green grasses and vast taiga.
"Is this it?" Echo asked Cody softly, looking back at the he-wolf with gentle amber eyes.

As Cody's eyes fell upon the landscape before him, memories came crashing over him like a tidal wave. He remembered the first day he and Willow had come out here, and hunted that deer together. How he wished he could go back to that day with her; before Kodiak pulled his stunt that started the whole battle, before he'd fallen in love with her... before... before...

He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he almost didn't hear Echo's question. "Yes." His voice was barely a whisper. His dull, gray gaze looked up at the sky. This is gonna hurt so much... until I meet you again in the Pack of Lupin, Willow...

Limping pretty badly but determined to bury her packmate, Cedar hobbled over to Nebrivo and grabbed him by the scruff. It didn't seem right for such a powerful wolf to be so cold and limp. Wincing and holding back another sob, she started to drag him toward where her brother and the rest of Stonepack's wolves were always buried.

Faedon was beside her, dragging the limp dusty brown and white form of Quartz. Faedon wasn't crying - yet. She was in a daze, and she was in denial that Quartz, Nebrivo, Willow, and Poppy were all dead. No. They can't be dead. I probably just ate some caribou or something that was a little too far gone, and I'm having some strange dream because of it... While Faedon hadn't been as close to Willow as Fyra and Cody, she had still been very close to her and Faedon considered her as her best friend. (( If that's okay, Cluckins. )) Faedon hadn't been particularly close to Quartz, Nebrivo, or Poppy, but they were still wolves of Stonepack and they were now gone... forever. Faedon wished that she had gotten to know them better while she had the chance. As she looked back at Quartz's limp body that would never move again, Faedon felt a wave of grief crash into her heart. I had no idea I'd miss her this much if she died... As a matter of fact, Faedon had never even thought about Quartz dying. She'd been there for as long as Faedon could remember. I'm so sorry, Quartz...

Quote: Fyra staked out a spot that looked out into the endless expanse of earth and sky, where the sun would set later that day. "Right here," she murmured, "is perfect."

"Perfect," Cody murmured, and he began to dig.
