Suddenly, Neb froze. He heard Rain's cries of pain.

"Quartz, Quartz, Rain is having her pups!" Nebrivo said, stirring Quartz from her sleep.

Rain sat in her den, labor pains coursed through her belly.  She whimpered from the pain, and Thunder slunk into the den.  "Rain!" he gasped.  "I-I-I'll get A-Aki!" he howled, and charged out.  "Aki! Mari!" he howled. 

Aki froze mid howl. "What?" He spun, to face Thunder.

Onyx's eyes changed from sad, to pleading. "Please don't make me leave your pack." he pleaded. He looked like a pup, but on the inside, felt broken, and numb.

"I wont.... I promise."

"Quartz! Rain is having her pups!" Nebrivo yelped. Quartz still hadn't awoken.

Nebrivo padded up to Quartz's den.

(Ug, you're going to kill me for this, but I have to leave.)

Quartz raised her head, blinking sleep from her eyes.

Quartz struggled up, "Rain? I mean, it's happening?!"

"Yes, now!" Nebrivo said, excited. For the first time that whole day, his eyes sparkled with extreme excitement and happiness. He looked his old self.
