Night's jaw clenched. He knew a lot about helping others and felt sympathy for the wolf, but he had to make sure the wolf wasn't a threat. "I'm sorry," he said, keeping his voice a little hard. "But we have to know where you're from to let you pass."

"We're just some loners passing through. We don't mean any harm." The he-wolf then appeared from behind a tree, and he motioned with his nose to a battered, bloody wolf, who was hanging onto life by a mere thread.

"Well..." Night forced himself to not look torn. "The quickest way out is that way." He motioned with his nose toward the Unclaimed Territory just over a densely forested hill.

"Alright, thanks." The three loners carrying the bruised wolf then turned, heading in the direction that Night had pointed them to.

As they went by, the battered wolf's eye was cracked open ever so slightly. For a second, it looked like there was an evil glint in his sapphire blue eyes, but his eyes closed again so quickly that it was impossible to tell. The four wolves vanished from sight over the horizon.

Night watched them as they left. They had seemed slightly suspicious, but Night suspected it was just his nerves. Still...the fact they wouldn't even tell him about themselves for two seconds put the Pinepack alpha on edge.

Once May and Dawn were out of earshot, Black Magic leaned down and whispered something into Ice Princess' ear. The black wolf flinched slightly and nodded, her eyes frightened.
