Just observe your flock for a while and see how they get along. Your ducklings seem to be four or five weeks old, the runners would have to be really vicious to pose a threat. A little pecking doesn't hurt and usually ducks get along with each other when locked up together at night.
I introduced a duckling of about three weeks to my flock a month ago, and it was accepted by the others without trouble.

If you notice much aggression, chasing and feather pulling, separate the ducklings from the new runners.

Sigh of relief phew... I most definatly will. When I introduced them this afternoon the bigger ones seemed scared at first lol. Ill be in there first thing. Thanks for replying ive only been a duck mummy for 4/5wks xx

I have 3 fawn and white runners, born March 6, 2014. How do I tell drake from duck? I ordered 3 ducks, but one has been mounting the other two and going through the motions. This morning I saw that particular one on the bottom and one of the others on top going through the motions! I had a hen that molested the other hens, I know she was a hen because I witnessed her laying eggs! I figured it was about dominance. So, back to the ducks, would that be the same thing? I really don't want a drake. Don't drakes get curly tail feathers? None of mine have any.

And one more thing, these runners are just over 6 months old, when will they start laying?

Thank ya'll for your responses, I saw Runner Duck Club thread and thought if anybody knows, someone here surely will!

Typical for runners, mine were also scared of the duckling and it took about half an hour before they were convinced that the fluffy little thing that was determined to become adopted by them was harmless.

At the age of six months, you should long be able to tell the sexes apart by voice. Ducks quack loudly while drakes have a hoarse, raspy voice and indeed have curly feathers on their tails.
Additionally, ducks sometimes express homo- or rather bisexual tendencies, I have witnessed females mounting each other even with a drake around several times.

You could even post a picture of your ducks and people here could tell you for sure what sex they are.

I also ordered 17 Pekins that have since went to freezer camp. They were LOUD! Compared to the Pekins, these Runners are very very quiet. They quack softly to each other, and get loud once in awhile, but nothing like those Pekins. None of the 3 of the Runners have curly tail feathers. They all sound pretty much the same, none of them stand out quack-wise!

So when will they start to lay? Since it is going to be fall soon, will they wait until spring to start laying?

Thanks for the help!

I have two Indian runner ducklings that were given to me they are about 6 weeks old now , is it ok to leave them outside in a A-frame cage overnight now? They have been living in my bathroom under a heat lamp up until now, but, Im finding it hard to take them out everyday to get fresh air and sun as they are getting bigger and feisty making it difficult. They can see all the other ducks walking around them through the day and they have a little water bath they can dip into. Our winter is almost over and I am going to put a cover over the open part of there cage at night. What does everyone else do at this point? :)
