I'm afraid I have two or three drakes >.< based on the quack theory... I have six ducks total, I'm thinking I have at least one girl cause "she" is starting to quack! Then the other two are quite loud so in hoping those two are girls >.<

I have six runners, I think I have at least one girl based on the quack theory, as "she" is quacking! Then I think I might have two more girls ( hopefully) as they are really loud, and my other three are really quiet and sound like hatchlings still when they finally say anything :/

Hi, all Runner lovers, i got my runners from the breeder, they arrived Wed, one DOA, out of 10. I am concerned w/one little (t/smallest) female chocolate runner. I named her hopper, because she hops. Her balance is not good & she looks like she is breathing heavy. Im going to attach a video (hopefully) can anyone see what is wrong?
I have given them sugar water the first day, then switched to water w/electrolyte powder & i put in a tsp of molasses. They are eating Flock Raiser, i gave it dry and i made a seperate bowl of mash using t/flock raiser & the electrolyte water, oh & i put some brewers yeast in t/dry & wet. Maybe im doing too much?
@amiga can u look @ my pics Thanks
My video will not load, boo hoo. I will attacha pics, hope they help?

Goodmorning All... i am so bummed that i have a headache! My little wobbler (Chocolate Runner) WAS getting stronger & walking well. I seperated her & her buddy was a small Buff duckling. They All (9) got baths 3 days in a row. Anyway, i may have made a bad decision, when i put her back in her seperate box i put a different duckling with her (thought i would change up the company???) It was the smallest Blue Runner) same size as her. When i went in this AM she was on her side, almost on her back & the blue runner was almost on top of her. I turned her over & she scoots around (a little) & falls over onto her back & cant get back upright.
She was doing welk, i thought, yesterday. I was going to try putting her back w/her flock today, Not Now, unless t/company would inspire her? I think she is dying. I dont want her to suffer, :hit should i have my husband put her down? Does anyone have any ideas? Suggestions?
Im so sad for her, my little helpless creation!! She may have just been destine to only be here for a few days. I feel so helpless. This is the part, i dont like w/All my animals!!

Oh no Cyndi, I am so sorry :(

Depending on how much work you want to put into trying to help her, you could look into this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/857143/treating-wry-neck-in-crested-duckling-edited-title

I know your little one might not be showing signs of wry neck, but it sounds like she might be having nervous system issues which could maybe be helped with large doses of vitamins, like jenniemig did for her duckling.

And of course, you should do what's best for you.

ThanksTracy & amiga, i will give her more time. I had to pick her up & place her infront of her food & water. I put her original (buff) buddy back w/her. They ate & drank together & t/buff cleaned her & preened her, so sweet. I moved her back to her mirror & clean towel. I will keep checking her & moving her back n' forth. She is so weak. I will keep praying for her recovery. She is getting vitamins in her food & water (electrolytes) & t/vitamins that r in the flock raiser. Not sure if she needs more vits?
Pray for her!! Thanks

Hope your little duckling gets better soon! And as for my "six runners" make that two... Lol two fawn and white runners, and 4 Rouen, rural king really needs to get their labeling correct >.<

I put my chocolate runner back w/her flock. It was so beautiful t/way the other ducklings gathered around & checked her over & kissed her. And then one of her buddies layed its head on the edge of the bowl for a few mins, so precious. I put her infront of t/food & water & then back again near the heat lamp. I ewnt to check on her about 30 mins later and she was out of the bowl & snuggled w/all her buddies. She still can't walk & she still flops over when she is trying to scoot around. I turn her over & she snuggles w/her flock. She eats & drinks well, she just cant use her legs well. Poor baby!!

I had a duckling hatched last year smaller than the others and could hardly walk. Kept her with mom and siblings. Kept food and water close to mom so baby didn't have to go far. Would put her with mom if got left behind. Within a week if you didn't know which one had a problem at hatching you wouldn't have been able to pick it out. Just took a little time and extra love.
