McMurray Hatchery and I have no regrets whatsoever! Their minimum order is 2 (shipping for any number under 10 is a flat $45), and they don't have any of the fancier colors but my little girls showed up healthy, happy, and even at three days old obviously WAY higher quality than my first batch (who I got from a backyard breeder a couple towns over)

Psst psst psst, wasn't me whispering in your ear (Runnnnnnnners). For what it is worth, as I understand it, McMurray raises their own chickens and forwards their duck orders to Metzer. So if you are getting a mixed order (ducks & chickens) ordering from McMurray consolidates the order. If just ordering ducks, I would check both at the time and see who has better terms. I know for sure if ordering directly from Metzer (at least in the past) they inflate the cost a week or two before Easter to discourage "Easter ducks." Easter is March 27 next spring so that will probably affect the prices on the 21st and 28th - maybe the 14th. But the 7th should be normal for sure and after the 28th too. Probably before the 7th will be too cold for "reliable" duck shipping but we will see when we get there... I will be looking at those dates when they post them for our Pekin / Buff order

Edit: Currently Metzer has up to the end of February posted (no shipments in that time).

Okay so why not just order from Metzers instead of going through middle man if they are coming from Metzers anyway?

I think McMurray does that just to be "full service", but they are pretty big in their own right, so depending on what Metzer is giving them for a wholesale price (and what else you are ordering), it could conceivably be cheaper through McMurray. They ducks still go straight from Metzer to you so it's not like they stop by McMurray's along the way. So there is no down side either way other than who has a better deal at the time for you. If you wanted some EEs and some runners, you could place a single order with McMurray and have it taken care of. I have no chickens and so far have dealt only with Metzer, but my point was just it doesn't really matter which you order from in that particular case.

I had no idea! Nifty! I may have ended up picking McMurray when I was shopping around for some silly reason like I just liked the website better, or because I could see their customer reviews for all the runner ducklings in one place? Either way, my babies came in a super sturdy box lined with soft hay, with a nice warm pad and a little cup of water and/or baby duck health supplements. They also got extra priority gentle shipping, so the mid-October weather between Iowa (where they shipped from) and Northwest Washington (where I live) didn't seem to effect them negatively. The post office will-call people seemed amused by my little peeping box

Dooo iiit! They're like wibble-wobbly little bowling pins that lay pretty green eggs and eat slugs!!!
I have 1 of each I get:

1 light green egg - Chocolate?
1 dark green egg - not sure who black or blue
1 Blue-green egg - not sure who black or blue
1 White egg - Fawn & White.

And talk about wibble-wobbles! Our black one was inside with us for some socialization and all of a sudden she tilted backward past vertical!!! She was kind of wobbly in this position and we thought something was very wrong, then she pooped an egg out frontwards while rocked backwards and standing!!!!

She must have though she was bowling!!! Crazy duck (we don't remember if that one was a dark green or a blue-green).
