*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

im not worried about them being boys. Boys or girls i love them all. I just want to make sure there healthy and not sick.
How are they besides raspy? did you check to make sure their bedding isn't moldy? it can happen quick in the heat we're having and the wetness of the bedding. I've even been sprinkling some DE over top of the bedding my 11- 7 week olds are sleeping on since there are so many. Try adding some ACV into their drinking water so they can wash their faces with this water. 1 Tab to 1 Gal. do it for a couple days.

How old are they? sorry if you have already said.

I use the DE about 1X a week spread it out over the top then take the pitch fork in and stir it up real good so it's settled before they go to bed. Their voices are changing more than likely I have 7 week olds and am hearing the same thing here. They are very special parts of our lives

We have a very similar set up for ours--10x10 dog kennel with a tarp frame roof (we've added to them with a couple more as the flock has grown.) :) Do yours free range in the day? I wish mine could but we have hawks and loose neighborhood dogs and I love my babies too much. :(

I just have one question for you:for your roof, do you just have the tarp zip tied flat over the whole thing? If so, just be careful if it rains. We tried that once before we bought the framed roof from TSC they have for the kennel. With the flat tarp, the first rain that came collapsed the tarp and the whole metal frame of the kennel too with the weight of the standing water. We were lucky no one got hurt. Not to scare you, but I know you're a new ducky owner and I want to prevent you from a tragedy if I can.

no it's slanted down in the back. Then we put a pcv pipe under it in the center to add support and to keep the rain from building up. I know what your talking about. It happened over the winter time with snow. Pulled the sides in and the tarp fell in and the snow buried Henry and Omaly. My husband just happened to go out side at the time and him and my youngest son saved my only two ducks i had at the time.
They have a inclosed pen. Its over 2,000 square feet witch they spend there day time hours and the coop shares that space. Ya we have hawks too. You name it.we have it here. Thank you for your concern. Very nice of you. :)

Oh. So you're not as new as I thought to duck world. :) Do you still have Henry and Omaley?

I'm so sorry about what happened to them with the snow. Im glad you were able to save them. I know weve had some close calls like that too with other things. Unfortunately sometimes we can't anticipate things happening until it's too late. I know my husband and I have had our share of learning experiences and have lost a couple of ducks in the process. I know how hard it is losing them so if I can share any knowledge I have with someone, especially if I see something as being a red flag, I want to help.

There are some really great people on BYC as well and I'm glad we have this place to share our concerns and victories. :)

It sounds like you have a really nice set up for your ducks too. Do you have a picture if your daytime enclosure that you wouldn't mind sharing?
