I'm so sorry about what happened to them with the snow. Im glad you were able to save them. I know weve had some close calls like that too with other things. Unfortunately sometimes we can't anticipate things happening until it's too late. I know my husband and I have had our share of learning experiences and have lost a couple of ducks in the process. I know how hard it is losing them so if I can share any knowledge I have with someone, especially if I see something as being a red flag, I want to help.

There are some really great people on BYC as well and I'm glad we have this place to share our concerns and victories. :)

It sounds like you have a really nice set up for your ducks too. Do you have a picture if your daytime enclosure that you wouldn't mind sharing?

i lost Omaly spring of last year. Old age. I found him in a river with a brocken wing(100% mallard) Henry was a rouen and i lost him a week ago to a raccoon i think and he was not yet a adult when i got him from a farmer so Omaly wouldn't be alone. He hadnt came in to his adult feathers yet. So my baby runners are a hole new thing for me. Got them at 2 days old. Yes i will get a picture for you..

I tossed my King Suro today. Despite having no faith in it anymore, I find I'm having a panic attack over parting with it simply because it cost me a lot. Fiddle

But two successive hatches with only two survivors apiece out of a combined 30+ eggs - despite doing everything but sacrificing my immortal soul (and I looked into the option) to make sure everything was right - I just can't do this incubator anymore. I'll go back to the old styrofoam square where sweating blood is an expected part of the incubation process

But still - I have two live runners in the house!

Oogway and Shifu hanging out with the thermometer.


They came from eggs that could produce Trout or Blue Trout. I'm hoping I have one of each, and then all I need is a Saxony runner to make my life complete (for now. Duck Math still holds sway.)

I'm so sorry you didn't get anymore to hatch but my goodness look at those 2 lil ones they are adorable . Hope these are exactly what you wanted.
