What breed of runner is Gus?
The lady at rural king told me they don't sell runners well she lied.

Welcome to BYC!!!
Probably a chocolate runner, but maybe a khaki campell

Here is a pair of my chocolate girls from Meyer's. This is about 2 weeks ago when they were just starting to feather out.
There are actually 2 different genes for "chocolate" in Runners. The "sex linked brown" gene Brsl, which gives a dark chocolate brown color, and Buff, which gives a lighter warm brown (and is much rarer). Mine are dark chocolate, you can see some of the adult color on the right hand one's belly.

Really cute faces. Beautiful colors.

FYI You can start with chocolate (black gene and brown gene) and you can add a blue gene. This will give you Lavender (1 blue gene) or Lilac (2 blue genes). These will look a lot lighter but will NOT carry the buff gene.

Quote: Just a note...a single picture can catch any duck upright for a moment. Gus is a runner if he spends most of his time upright unless foraging. Another breed might be upright for a moment but will spend most of their time horizontal even when not foraging. For example, my TSC ducklings (first two pictures below) are very upright in the pictures, but they do stay horizontal 95% of the time and are NOT runner ducks. On the other hand, the ducks in the last pictures are purebred runners who are not standing tall because they are foraging in the grass.
