some new additions to the flock, hatched 5th may 2013 (the big yellow ones are White Campbell's but the rest are my new Runners)

This is the new nursery that my darling hubby made me to keep them safe from Charlie Drake and the non laying female runner's :)

Lovely! What is that sheet that allows them footage in and out of the pool, it's ingenious.

Thanks babe :)
Don't know if it is the same in other countries but here in the UK it's a shower mat, a non slip rubber mat that goes into the bottom of a bath for people who have a shower over the bath tub :)
We use them for the ducklings to get in and out of the pond and to teach them to go up the ramp to bed

Runners here today I am thrilled.... So I have raised other ducks with success so far Pekins and Mallards. Any words of wisdom I should know about my newest arrivals?

I am looking into getting my first ducks, and I am considering getting Runners because of their egg production. So a few questions: do you get as excellent egg production from your runners as I have been reading? Do you have any trouble with nervousness? and does anyone have a hatchery they would recommend me ordering from Or (this may be a long shot) is anyone in Northeast Ohio with some females they are willing to part with? Thanks :)

Hi!

Welcome to the Duck Forum!

I am looking into getting my first ducks, and I am considering getting Runners because of their egg production. So a few questions: do you get as excellent egg production from your runners as I have been reading?

Yes, I do. Between 150 and 250 eggs a year from each duck so far. They are three years old.

Do you have any trouble with nervousness?

None. Mine are energetic, but not nervous.

and does anyone have a hatchery they would recommend me ordering from

I bought mine from Meyer. They are based in Ohio but the ducklings were shipped from California

Or (this may be a long shot) is anyone in Northeast Ohio with some females they are willing to part with?

I am over in Connecticut, but there may be some runner breeders around you. Take a look at the Rehoming Forum and the Buy Sell Trade Forum

Thanks :)
