We plan on separating them and giving them each a female. But now its starting to look like two males a female. Makes a face idk what to think!

Just remember they depend on you to keep them safe. Drakes are not always easy on females. Or each other.

I know I have had a male ruen with a female Ruen and a Peeking he never hurt them but he was aggressive twords other people. I am going to keep them safe and keep them separated if I have to depending on how my runners act. Right now they are so sweet and spoiled.

I have two ducks and three drakes. It got a bit rough for a while. So the drakes have one pen and the girls another. The three boys have now joined in the solidarity of pining for the girls and pace their fence together harmoniously, quacking longingly at the girls. The girls are molting, so they're just a bit out of sorts anyways, but they are enjoying their egg-free vacation. Sometimes they'll stand by the boys, and at other times they will just lay on the lawn, looking like sunbathers at the beach.

A sad but inspiring story:

One of my friends had four drakes and one duck. At first sight not an ideal number; the boys got a bit rough with her, so her neck was plucked and her feathers a bit rough. But all four boys loved her and would gather around her to "protect her" whenever she chose to rest. This odd setup ended up a lifesaver for her when a sweet family dog who had ignored the quackers for months on end suddenly decided that they could be played with. Although there were people home, no one saw or heard what happened. But the results are clear.

The four drakes weren't just pretending to protect her. Two of them gave their lives for her safety. Tally: Two dead drakes, two hurt drakes, and one safe duck. The bond between a drake or drakes and their duck is a real one, and it's not all just about making babies. Afterwards, the three survivors were clearly traumatized, but the two boys were leaning on each other and against her. They clearly had extremely strong bonds with her and with each other.

I am particularly sad because I had raised these five from ducklings. I am proud of their courage but was so sad when I helped my neighbor bury two of them.

My babies are getting so big, they are only a couple of months old and almost fully feathered! Since adding them into the pen with my Cayuga and Rouen baby, they have lost their personable nature and move in a flock mentality, is this normal? They went from being sweet and loving to being total stand offs overnight.

This is me and "Nugget" my F&W runner just 3-4 weeks ago.

Starting to wonder if my white duckling is a runner?? I thought she was a pekin but she isnt growing as fast as my swedish and is the same size as the two runner ducklings i have. This is her/him next to my possible saxony duckling. Still unsure on her breed too, but hoping saxony.

Yep she's a runner alright. Can tell just by the way she stands she's a white runner.

How old are your runners in this pic? I just ordered a fawn and white runner along with a white crested.
