*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Ducklings do grow very fast. My blue Swedish hen was quite shy as a baby too, but she turned out to be one of the friendliest of them all, her name is Rowena. I have one Cayuga hen, named Pansy, and she is so laid back and tame.

So I have 4 ducklings that are about 10 weeks old (this Friday since I have had them). We bought them the 1st day they came in so I am going to assume they were only a day or two old. They have all their feathers and are starting the molting process now but they still aren't quacking. *sigh* They are trying, but it sounds like teenage boys going through puberty.

I was wondering if anyone could possible guess at what sex these guys may be. I think 1 of the black ones is a drake and the other is a female and the two fawns are girls. Here are some pictures.

First black runner I think is the drake (file 1451).
Second black runner I think is the female (file 1452).
Third picture is the two fawns, which I think are both females (file 154).
Last picture is of the 5 of them (file 1450). The all white we know is a female. She is an adult and quacks!

Yes they do grow fast...my Cayugas just grew faster than my others. I hope my swedes turn out friendly too. I've heard they are great! And chatty :)

So I have a few more weeks before I really know what sexes I have. lol

Thank you for the information. This is my 1st time owning any fowl. Love having them.
Yes, they are great! You can tell by about 6 to 8 weeks by their voices. Do you have runners? If so the boys will be much quieter raspy whispery and girls are loud typical quacks. If you have 2 different sexes it's obvious who's who by quack. If you post a video of them making noises we can tell you which is which if you're unsure. If not, I can get you a video tomorrow of my boys chatting and my girls quacking so you can compare.

My blue and black swede hens are extremely chatty! Every time they see me approach the pen, they starting quacking loudly.

My trap finally caught something, definitely not a fox. After I opened up the trap he refused to leave, must of really liked the cat food I used as bait. After a bit of prodding I finally got Mr. Possum out and on his way. I've reinforced all the fence so I don't think I need bother with the trap any longer.
