I discovered a new way to make money of my runner ducks. Anyone wants to make bookings for fesivals?

The peafowl (and new chicks) are doing fine. They handle the heat very well. The chicks need to be moved down to the greenhouse to give them more room. peachicks are rather active, and are AMAZING jumpers, so they need some head room. Of the two new ducklings, one is a typical blue, with pale patch on chest due to Runner gene. The other is this oddity, never seen one like it in a Runner duck. Mom is a lavender with Runner gene, Dad is most likely Penciled.

Week 22 and no eggs - I swapped them to 50% layer 50% regular waterfowl at 19 weeks since they were all playing a lot of leap frog in the pond by then. Everyone has finished their molt and is looking runner shaped and sassy. Their pen and run is in the shade of some very large oaks and with the heat they have been napping in their shed during the day even with the shade so maybe some supplemental lighting?

would someone please tell me to chill and let the duck do their thing (or should I listen to the brain hamsters and fiddle with stuff until they hit 24 weeks?)

They when their body tells them to if you start with lights your going to mess up their lay rest cycle which honestly can't be good for their health. Once they start laying they will lay like gang busters.

Eggs Happened Saturday!


then Drama:while doing their monthly ducky health check I found some grade 1 an 2 bumble foot on three of my girls, they have minimal swelling and the two bumble spots with scabs the scabs are scab colored and not dead tissue colored. I'm 90% sure it is due to the paver stones I put under the water at the beginning of the month to keep them from drilling really deep bore holes under the bucket - I had noticed it was staying wet in a wider area since I put the pavers down but had put it on the "when the heat index is not 105" redo this list. Regrets, I have them.

Try just clear iodine for now and see if that heals them up you can soak in Epsom salt water before hand I like to use a q tip to apply the iodine. Make sure it's clear.

Sweet, that's what I've been doing, though I have been using the orange stuff " Animal Health Gentle Iodine Wound Spray 1% iodine" - Ill pick up the clear stuff tonight.
