They will become darker after the next molt at about eight weeks of age. Beaks sometimes begin to get green speckles too.

I have to admit I am slightly bummed to hear that. I like her lighter colored feathers. I will have to wait till she molts then and see what she looks like. Either way she is a sweetie. Thanks.

You'll be super bummed if 'her' head gets really dark.

Has anyone else found eggs in their ponds? My goofy girls just started laying and they laid 2 eggs each in their pond. They have sense laid couple on dry land, but not in the nest box. They used the box for several days but then stopped and ever sense its an Easter egg hunt every day.

I found an egg in the deep part of our creek twice. I jokingly told my daughter that whichever runner hen laid it was going for a water birth!

They are beautiful ducks.

She is doing well and enjoying living outdoors now. All her feathers have grown in, and it won't be long till she molts. Faith has been quiet the character and one of my most social ducks. I can't wait to see what she looks like after she molts!
