Running chicken wire

We haven’t had night issues we lock them in the coop at night and that’s predator proof. But better safe than sorry with the run I suppose
Nothing has actually made it inside. The pen has chicken wire on all sides and the roof under the tarp. It also has 1/4" hardware cloth (before I knew that 1/2 is better and stronger) three feet up the side and with a 1 foot apron on top of the ground.

The possum especially has been seen numerous times climbing up and all over the pen. The skunks and raccoons usually circle the base and try to dig under but are blocked by the apron.

The camera is a Foscam SD4. Picture quality and night vision are decent on it. Live streaming is kinda crappy even tho the wifi signal is decently strong to where it is.

IMO good idea. I ended up adding chicken wire over the top of our extended run after 2yrs without issues, because we started getting predators climbing over the 6ft fence during daylight hours before they get locked up inside their actual coop (main predator was a bobcat). There were many sad days, but since adding the overhead chicken wire no predators have gotten to them, only when free ranging unfortunately.

PSA. For years, I read about chicken wire (not being reliable). Never had a problem with predators. And I have plenty from fox, coyotes, possum, raccoons, eagle and you name it. This year my luck finally ran out. And I got attacked by a predator (could have been either a raccoon or possum, saw both that night). It chewed thru the wire not once, but twice in one night. I will never put my trust in chicken wire again. Now, I check the run perimeter every night (18 inch (tall) of corrugated steel over HC, overkill maybe.) It took a lost for me to realize the danger of chicken wire to my ladies. Never again. Like it was already said, "It keeps chickens in, nothing else".
