So, my friend challenged me to a race once the snow melts AND she is SUPER fast, I can catch up with her, ANYWAYS how can I run faster?

Sorry, no help here.

I find running ( and or jogging) to be a sadistic form of torture.
 
as a former runner (now with knee injury) it takes time, commiment, and patience. it really depends on the when the race is and the length of the "race" and your current running abilities. if you overdue it, injury awaits you. i have lots of other info but don't know how much you want.

i am a runner and you must practive every day different excersizes. how far are you running. usually 3 miles is a good amount to challenge someone too... if that is the amound start out running half a mile as fast a possible then gradually work yourself up until 3 miles. BUT this is the most important part work yourself all the way up to 4 miles so when you run the 3 miles you will think its a walk in the park... or a run in the park
