Running out of time! Identifying Gender 11-12 wks

Your hens don’t need extra calcium until they are actually laying. A week or a month without having the extra calcium while laying is much better than having calcium while not laying. Don’t worry about calcium / laying feed until all your pullets are well into laying, 30+ weeks old, you can of course offer oyster shell free choice any time after 16-18 weeks.

For some reason people get hung up on giving laying feed to 18 week old pullets for calcium. If they don’t lay for weeks this is much worse for their bodies than if they didn’t have any supplemental calcium at all, even for weeks into laying eggs.

Your blue Andalusian is definitely a girl she looks just like my hen only a little younger! and I think you have 2 roosters the 3rd one looks like a rooster (the white one with a bigger comb and waddle than the other white chickens) and of course your silkie! Hope this was a little bit helpful.

Kurt: Cockerel. Pics of Rusty aren't that clear, so could not say for sure. Others look like pullets.

I have 2 ISA Browns Rusty & Rosie I’d be shocked if anyone said they were boys, Rusty is the oldest and Rosie is her little mini me, but they’re both so feminine 24189961-51AF-4A18-A3B9-C2A8E86647CC.jpeg Rusty 3F865565-4D30-4E9B-BE9E-7BFAEF97A8E3.jpeg BCFD1F38-3992-48F8-961A-775A6AE06E97.png FA38B9D1-9567-49A4-A15E-967269CF969F.jpeg rusty (front) Rosie (back) they were a little younger in this pic 77F1452A-B3C3-4E2B-B54B-18EED10C69BD.jpeg rosie B48A6168-F73E-47F8-8ECC-DF5E6F17A7DC.jpeg rosie

What do you suggest? Oyster shells?
Just smash your egg shells up and put them on a pizza pan or cookie sheet. 350* oven for 5-10 min to dry them out. Then I smash them up really small with a nice wooden spoon. Let them cool and sprinkle over food. And yes Oyster Shell is good too.

ETA: Used eggs shell are "free". OS isn't really too expensive and you only need a small amount. I started my pullets on it when they were showing signs of laying.
