Josephine is indeed a Gold Laced Wyandotte. Blackie is actually a Black Sexlink. Violet and Cookie are both Easter Eggers. Your correct also with Kurt and the Buff Silkie.

I second this.

Blackie's slim build doesn't line up with that of Black Copper Marans, or any Marans, for any matter. Hackle color is also off.

As for Violet, neither Blue nor Lavender Ameraucanas are marked by red plumage. These are solid, recognized varieties. She is 100% beautiful Easter Egger.

What do you suggest? Oyster shells?

I use oyster shell. I have mixed it with the actual feed and they eat it down. I have only one Brahma rooster.

What are some traits to look for when identifying Marans - and all their “types” French copper, black French copper, coockoo...? They seem like an interesting breed I’d love to learn more about them

Marans are known for their pink-to-white legs (though some varieties, like Blue Splash, sport slate), and rugged, hardy build. Those bred to the French standard will be feather-legged, while American standard lack this feature. It's almost certain, for example, that "French" Black Coppers shall have some attractively feathered legs.

A few colors available include: Cuckoo, Golden Cuckoo, Black, Black Copper, Blue Copper, White, Wheaten, Blue Splash, Golden Salmon, and Black-tailed Buff.

Ok well that definitely counts her out. She has black legs, oh well. She could be any kind of mixed breed or “mutt” in the world & i love her just the same & shell still always be my Blackie
