Aspenkit appeared, bright-eyed and excited. “Yes?”

"Me too..." He murmured

"Are you ready to begin?" He mewed, his eyes full of warmth and gentleness. He had also chosen this spot because it was far enough away from his mother that she wouldn't hear him and interfere.

Rosethorn curled around her, purring.

Blackblood purred and straightened. "Keep your haunches bunched up, like this, so that way when you pounce, you'll have a lot more power." He pushed down slightly on the kits back. "There! Keep your tail slightly curved, so you'll also have balance when you leap."

“Do you think Lilyflight will be back in time to meet our kits?” she asked after a little.

“Okay, like this?” He curled his tail and bunched up his haunches as he had been instructed, feeling like a twig that had been pushed the wrong way.

He stayed silent for a moment or two before murmuring "I don't know. I wish I did."

"Perfect!" Blackblood praised. He grabbed a leaf and set it a few lengths away. "Alright, try pouncing on this! See how far you can get."

Snowfrost sighed. “Me too. I know she’d like to meet them, but... I don’t know if I’d be able to handle the thought that she sacrificed herself for me. No, wait- I can’t think like that.” All the emotions she had felt for the past few days welled up and spilled over like a leaf in a rainstorm, but the words that tumbled out of her mouth didn’t make any sense. Her mood received yet another change as she felt the kits squirm.

Aspenkit pounced as far as he could but overshot the leap.
