He nodded in agreement. "That sounds good. Since you'll be her mentor, I'll let you take care of the basic lesson. I'll be there to supervise, but you can direct and everything."

"Don't worry, it's nothing bad." He assured her, hearing the nervousness in her voice. "Skykit informed us about Flykit's deafness. We want to make her a warrior still, but we'll have to test her a little first."

Snowfrost forced her fur to lay flat. How had Skykit found out? She felt protective over her daughter. “What kind of test?” She found herself struggling to keep her voice steady. This is your Clan leader! You can’t snap at him. Lilyflight rested her tail on her shoulder.

"Just a basic hunting and fighting lesson." He mewed gently, knowing this must be hard for her. "We'll work out ways where she can scent the air and feel vibrations through the ground so she can be prepared for ambushes and different things like that if it's decided she can become a warrior."

“She doesn’t need a test!” she said desperately. “She does as well as Featherkit in any game simulating hunting, and...” Her voice trailed off.

"I know this is hard for you," He mewed sympathetically, "But we're doing this for her safety, nothing else. We are only thinking about what will be best for her." He promised solemnly, letting his tail rest on the distressed queens shoulders

Snowfrost didn’t say anything else. She just lowered her head and stared at the ground, unresponsive to Bramblestar’s words.
