*Running with the Flood* A Warrior Cat RP~Open~

"Well now..." Spotpelt rumbled. "A story! Well, I got a lot o' those!"
Sifting through his memory he went back years and years, until he was a young warrior again, trotting through the forest on a clear newleaf day. "Well." He began, curling his tail around Skykit. "I was a new warrior, see. Desperate to prove myself to the older warriors. In those days, the forest was younger. Less bushes to drown out the sounds and smells. In fact, the sturdy young trees in this forest now were nothing more than wee saplings in my day. So when a big ol' stinky fox came sniffin' around at the far edge of the border, well, I caught the scent almost at once! Well back then I wasn't as scrawny as I am now, and I had a right big head, too. An ego as big as the skies, yes sir!" Spotpelt chuckled to himself. "Anyhow, I thought I could take on that big brute all by myself. So I puffed out my chest and stuck my muzzle in the air and I paraded right over to where that sly beast was sneaking around." Spotpelt jumped up and let out a snarl, mimicking a fox. "Yes sir! He was the biggest animal I've ever seen! But did that stop me? No! So I hold my ground as the terrible fox comes closer and closer..." he paused for dramatic effect.

Skykit jumped in surprise when he snarled, then broke out in giggles. His neck fur rose in anticipation when he paused. "Then what happened, Spotpelt?" he urged, his voice high with tension

"Well" Spotpelt continued in an ominous whisper, "It bore down over me, it's enormous shadow stretched out in front of it. It opened its terrible jaws and it's horrible teeth glinted with the blinding sun..." Spotpelt took a deep breath and suddenly leaped into the air--"AND HE STRUCK!" he yowled.
laying down again, he tucked his paws beneath himself and meowed proudly, "Lucky for me, I dodged just in time. He only got my ear." Spotpelt flicked his ugly half-ear that had never healed right. "But if you think this is bad, you shoulda seen that fox!" He laughed.

"Woah!" He mewed admiringly. "That's awesome! I hope I can hunt foxes like you one day." He purred, licking the elders shoulder

"I'm sure you'll be hunting foxes in no time!" Spotpelt assured the kit.
He did his best growl, trying it out. Once he was satisfied with what the outcome was, he turned to the elder excitedly. "Do you think that would scare a fox off?" His little tail waved in the air as he imagined scaring off a fox twice his size just by growling

Lionpaw and Firespot were already by the gorse tunnel, waiting for Flamefrost, Brackenpaw, and Nightpaw to join them.
Flamefrost emerged, Brackenpaw right behind her. “What are we waiting for?”
"You two," Firespot mewed "And Nightpaw. We've already ate and have been waiting for a while." He informed her with a twitch of his tail.

Lionpaw nuzzled his brother
“Sorry. We got caught up.” They left the camp.

Brackenpaw licked his ear.
Firespot followed, staying in the middle of the patrol while Lionpaw stayed in the back, sniffing curiously at the undergrowth. He still hadn't been an apprentice for that long, so he viewed the forest as new and exciting
Nightpaw followed at the end of the patrol, twitching her tail occasionally. I hope I don't have to work with those mousebrains..

Lionpaw felt a bit self-conscience with Nightpaw behind him, so he fell silent. He knew the older apprentice was judging them and didn't want her to view him anymore badly than she already did.
