He sighed, thinking carefully. "You'll know how to lead. You were born to do this. I have been thinking about our kits names a lot, actually. I was thinking I could tell you the names I was thinking of, so that way it would still be like I was there, announcing their names for the first time. Lionpaw should be Lionfoot. Remember how he used to pounce on my feet all the time like he thought they were prey? Brackenpaw should be Brackenfall. After all, my name used to be Bramblefall. And Skypaw should be Skyheart, because my heart shall always be in the sky, waiting for the day you join me so we can spend countless seasons together as a family. That's how we can go on. Remember I'll always be waiting for you." He nuzzled her affectionately. She rested her forehead against his. "How can I lead if you’re not by my side?” she asked softly. “How can our kits become warriors if you’re not there to call their names? How- How can we go on?”
(Bye)
(Frostypaw? Has he officially joined the Clan now?)Frostypaw watched silently. He had seen cats die before. In this group, the way they gathered to mourn their leader.. that was one thing he’d never experienced in the city. He bowed his head in respect of the occasion.
Nightbird came forward to sit besides Hazelpaw. She didn’t say anything, just nodded mutely and stared forlornly at their leader. She didn’t know what to think.
Hazelpaw leaned against her, bowing her head, not able to meet Bramblestars gaze before he left.
Falconpaw awkwardly curled his tail around her shoulders at an attempt to provide some comfortPrairiepaw lowered her eyes and shuffled her paws in the dirt. She didn't know how to react. Her normal naive coping methods--jokes and witty comments--wouldn't work in this situation. So she just sat there, feeling sad and awkward.
