*Running with the Flood* A Warrior Cat RP~Open~

“I’ll have them ready for tomorrow,” Floodlight whispered, leaving to prepare them.

The vigil began, and Lilyflight sat with her shoulders hunched and her nose pressed into her mate’s fur. She would remain, unmoving, for the whole night.

Brackenpaw sat next to her, head and tail drooping.
"Thank you." She nodded gratefully and offered her warmth to her mother and siblings.

Lionpaw curled into his brothers side along with Skypaw. They both had their noses in Bramblestars fur

Springsong pressed her nose into Bramblestar's fur. She couldn't believe he was really gone. She knew Lilyflight would be a great leader, but...She couldn't imagine life without Bramblestar.
How would they go on?
Something her mother used to say came back to her. "As you walk along the path of life, you will hit bumps. But the only way to get past the bumps is to keep moving."
They would all have to keep moving.

Sunstrike laid down beside Springsong, giving her a comforting look before pressing her face into Bramblestars fur, soaking up the last warmth of his body before it faded and he turned stiff. She couldn't cry. Not now. She cried when her sister died. She cried when her mate died and left her to mother two kits alone. But she would stay strong now, for her Clan. They needed and depended on her to stay strong as a senior warrior. She would not break this time, no matter how badly she wanted to.

Soon it was daylight out again (There's not much to do during a vigil) and the Elders took away Bramblestars body to bury it. Lionpaw, Skypaw, Sunstrike, Owlherb, Rainbird, and Thistlefern all watched him being carried out, whispering their final goodbyes before he was out of sight.

Silverdew took a last glance at Bramblestar as he was carried from the camp. She tried to bottle up her emotions, but couldn't. She let herself feel as sad and weary as she really did. She turned away and walked with Springsong back to the fresh-kill pile. She chose a rabbit to share and then they walked to a shady area to eat it. "Springsong, are you ok? Sorry, I mean, none of us are, but you seem...extra not ok?"
Springsong sighed, and then said, "When my father was hit on the Thunderpath, I was really sad. But I was also really young. This...feels different. I feel...lost. I just can't imagine life without Bramblestar."
Silverdew sighed. "I never knew my father, and never heard anything about him from my mother. I just got used to not knowing him. It is hard for me to miss someone I never knew. But Bramblestar was our leader. It is normal to feel different when your leader dies."
"I guess.."
Silverdew pressed her warmth against Springsong. "Let's eat. No need to be feeling worse because you're hungry!"

Owlherb nodded approvingly toward Silverdew. Getting her friend to eat was a step in the right direction. Many cats didn't eat when they were overcome with grief. She made a mental note to keep an eye on Lilyflight to make sure she ate something before they left for Mouthermouth that night. She disappeared into the medicine den and reappeared with some herbs clutched in her jaws. She dropped them at Springsongs feet. "This will help with shock and will help you get some sleep." She murmured before slipping back into the medicine den

Springsong chewed on the herbs, swallowing despite the bitter and tangy taste. She knew it was for the better. Silverdew, still sitting beside her, said, "I'm going to hunt for a bit. You should get some sleep." Springsong nodded. She turned and padded slowly to the warrior's den. "Not like I'm any use on a hunt anyways.." She thought sadly as she drifted off to sleep.

Silverdew sniffed the ground. She picked up a faint smell...rabbit. She followed the smell to a bush...then around it. Her head snapped up in shock. Another smell pricked at her nose. "Fox!" She was certain it was fox. And the rabbit guts strewn on the ground in front of her certainly proved it. The fox scent was at least half a day old, but nevertheless harmful. She raced back the way she came, grabbing the thrush and shrew she had already stashed, and raced into camp.
"Owlherb! Where is Lilyflight? I picked up fox scent near the Sky Oak, and found a rabbit carcass. I have to tell her!"
