Instinctively, the large black tom dropped, rolling to the left, landing on his paws with perfect balance, and calculating her next move.

Whiteshine praised Sunpaw and looked at Nighthowl confused. "Nighthowl, are you okay? You seemed a bit surprised. This is what training is about... Do you want to teach her something?"

His eyes widened slightly, “She’s your apprentice, not mine.” He mewed, unable to keep an edge out of his voice.

Sunpaw twitched her whiskers with amusement, a bit surprised she was able to put the warrior on edge. Whiteshine looked at him a long moment with her one good eye, and then mewed "Alright. Just be ready for things like that next time" She said jokingly. She turned her attention back to Sunpaw and said "Sunpaw, I'm going to teach you a new move, sort of like the one Nighthowl just did." She looked at Nighthowl and said "Attack me."

His eyes narrowed, tail tip flicking from side to side. He leaped with sheathed claws, he knew this was exactly what she expected. But at the last minute, he veered to the right, his massive forepaws knocking her paws from beneath her. He held her gently, but firmly against the ground for a moment before letting her up. He was annoyed that both she, and her apprentice thought him a lame fighter, however, he had spent more time coming up with battle moves than hunting as an apprentice.

More eye rolling and then Blackpaw ears started to swivel. Finally, he picked up a scent and dropped to a hunter's crouch. His body moved with grace and strength as he crept across the forest floor. His stomach barely touching the ground. Each pawstep was careful yet quick. Finally, he launched himself off his hind legs almost doing a dove in the air and landed on top of the furry body. He delivered a quick killing bite. Blackpaw then trotted over with the limp rabbit in his jaws.
