(It's okay!)(Sorry!)
Feathersky trotted into her den from who no's where. She spotted Lilyflight sparaled out on the moss and she saw a gash that ran across her flank. She also observed that the wound had been treated and dressed. "Who did this?" she asked Lilyflight.
By the drowsy look on Lilyflight's muzzle Feathersky suspected that Whiteshine had given her poppy seeds. By the look of the cut, it seemed like a large animal did this. "What happened?" asked Feathersky sitting down next to the other she-cat. She liked her patients to feel like they could tell her anything and to be comfortable. Sleeping in the medicine cat's den can be quite unsettling. Mostly because of all the herbs and scents.(It's okay!)
Lilyflight lifted her head sleepily. "Whiteshine," she answered.
"A fox scratched me. The... The same one that killed Rainpaw."By the drowsy look on Lilyflight's muzzle Feathersky suspected that Whiteshine had given her poppy seeds. Feathersky's heart gave a jolt. For a second she couldn't understand the words Lilyflight had given her. "Wha..." started Feathersky shocked."A fox scratched me. The... The same one that killed Rainpaw."
"I'm so sorry," she whispered, tears coming to her eyes. "We... we just heard a scream and we tried to get there fast enough, but she was already dead. Both the foxes paid with their lives, but-but Rainpaw didn't make it. The others are sitting vigil outside." She hung her head to hide her tears. If I had been faster in scenting the foxes, then perhaps Rainpaw wouldn't have died, she thought bitterly.Feathersky's heart gave a jolt. Feathersky let out a shocked breath. She had seen many cats die. Leaders, kits, queens, warriors, apprentices, but Rainpaw felt different for some reason. She couldn't imagine a world, a clan, without Rainpaw. Her mind just couldn't wrap her mind around that every time she asked for an herb or just a chat that Rainpaw wouldn't go running up, eager to do anything for anyone. Feathersky hung her head. Rainpaw couldn't be gone. She just couldn't. Why had Starclan taken her? "Of course," managed Feathersky in a few feeble pants. "Are you alright for the night? Can I do anything for you?" she asked."I'm so sorry," she whispered, tears coming to her eyes. "We... we just heard a scream and we tried to get there fast enough, but she was already dead. "I think I'll be fine for now," Lilyflight murmured sympathetically. "And... I'm sorry. You can go out there now, if you want." She rested her head on her paws in a dejected way.Feathersky let out a shocked breath. She had seen many cats die.
