Foxtail was eating a mouse outside the den and she heard shouts. Swiftly, she padded inside and found Robinstar dying. "What happened?" she asked with her voice full of worrie.

"Something was wrong with that prey!" Lilyflight exclaimed. She carefully avoided saying it was a death berry, or that it was the prey Foxtail had brought.

"Brambefall... the Clan is yours. I know you can do well. I trust you." Her voice faded and her flank rose with one last breath. Then she was still.

"The... the, the prey..." stuttered Foxtail looking down at the shrew. What had she done? She had killed the leader. She had betrayed her clan. Foxtail bolted out of the den so the other cats couldn't see her cry.

Bramblefall buried her head in her fur and then after a few moments stood up and carried her out and set her in the middle of camp. Then he went to find Feathersky.
