A few tears fell from her eyes as she buried her head into her fur. "Why him?" She asked softly

Whiteshine licked his ears and swept him closer to his brother with her tail

“I don’t know. I really don’t. But I wish things were different,” she replied in a whisper, still comforting the young mother.

Sunstrike blinked at her gratefully before standing up to speak. "Bluetail... Bluetail was a very loved cat. He stood by me and supported me in everything I did. He was the father to our kits. He will be very missed." Her voice wavered at the end, but she got through it and sat back down, grooming his face.

"Y-you said your first word!" She mewed excitedly
