"Ok." He mewed, then took a deep breath to calm his racing nerves. "I'm an apprentice in the Dark Forest." He blurted before he could chicken out. "I've been taking care of Snowfrost, bringing her prey and things like that, and we made a plan to figure out how to get her out, but, er, it kinda back-fired so I can't go back there until two sun-sets from now."
She was surprised. “What happened?”
"I told Blackblood I was tired but I didn't know how to get out, in hopes he would tell me, but instead Darksky got suspicious and walked me out instead. It would've been suspicious if I came back tonight, so I told her to get me two days from now."
“I know it feels like you did something wrong, but you didn’t. Darksky might have gotten angry at you and taken it out on Snowfrost if you refused.” She hesitated. “How is Snowfrost? Is there anything different about her? Other than what’s obvious, I mean.” She tried to keep her voice casual.
He snorted in amusement. "A medicine cat always knows..." He mused quietly. Louder, he said, "Yeah. She's expecting kits. Which is why we really have to get her out. Fast."
She nodded gravely. “Then we need to tell the others. Could you get Rosethorn, Lilyflight, and Bramblestar? Ask them to meet in the leader’s den and say I’ll be there in a moment.”
"Yeah." He rushed out to gather the cats she named and told each to wait in the medicine den for her.
