Runny poop and loss of appetite

Sorry for your loss. If she had e.Coli infection, there was probably not much you could do. It is an overwhelming infection in the body.

Sorry to butt in but not too sure how to use site and I need some advice. I have RIR who is about 15mths. She is in with 5 other hens and they are all fine. She has had runny poo for the last 2 months. She free ranges for about 5 hours a day. Ruby appears to be happy and does all the normal chicken things although I don't think she eats the chicken pellets she is quite skinny. Oh and she was quite sick just after I got her (she was about 16wks) and has never laid an egg. I wormed them all when I first noticed she had the runs.

I also have a buff wyandotte who is the same age and has also never laid an egg. She goes in, sits for half hour to an hour then comes out singing the egg song....but there is no egg. She also
Your hens could possibly be internal layers. Since one has had diarrhea for months and she is new to your property, I would probably give your flock a treatment of amprollium for coccidiosis. In Australia, amprollium is sold under other names. In the US it is Corid, but here is one available for you online: http://planetpoultry.com.au/medications/61-amprolium-200-100g.html

I am very sorry for your loss.. a big hug to your hen and you.

The yellow stuff seems to me like egg yolk..

She may have had egg yolk peritonitis... Internal layer/ egg yolk peritonitis can't avoid unfortunately as I read other threads in here and others.

For e-coli.... My hen has had this infection from internal layer/ egg yolk peritonitis, and has been fighting over for almost 2 months. I used penicillin, and Baytril. At first, Penicillin worked for her and second time it didn't . Baytril helped her on the second time when she was really ill.
She is still alive but she has the limited sun light time and spend the most of the time in the dark and warm place (about 30 ℃ )so she is discouraged to lay an egg, which is very important as I learned from the sick hen.

I bought some Corid 20% powder but can't figure out how much to put in water for two hens - I only give them a quart per day of water.

The dosage for Corid powder is 1 tsp per gallon, or 1/4 tsp per quart for 5 days. Change water daily, and treat with probiotics and vitamins for a few days after completing the treatment. Corid will treat coccidiosis.

I must have not made myself clear. I have had both these girls over a year now. Apart from the problem issues they are fine. Its just frustrating as I only have 3 out of my 5 have ever laid eggs. Of course I could never get rid of them. :)
