one of my Buff's has runny poop too. I cleaned her rear end off with warm,sudsy water.still frozen,hard poo on her backside.I cut it off with scissors,now only a bare butt and feather stubble.Will it grow back? I hope I didn't hurt her by doing this....she was at the point where the frozen poop was very uncomfortable,I could tell by the way she was acting....any advice for the next hen that has this problem? no blood . just white poo. liquid. roost alot by herself. eats well. no head tucking. i dont know sunbury. i did the exact same thing myself.

To the OP:

I responded to your other thread, and I think it's time for a "fecal float" test. Any vet can do it and it will help answer some internal q's of what is going on. If the hen is older, you say she still eats, it is also a possiblity of internal growths in the intestines that block off the passage of food, and there isn't anything you can do about the last one. I am suspecting that the cold weather probably has compromised her immune system a bit and thus her natural worm/cocci load is beginning to overwhelm her. Antibiotics won't do anything for the issue if it is either of those two issues. Worms are worms and cocci is a protozoa.
