Have 6 chicks around 6/7 weeks now and about two weeks ago I had to separate one from the rest. Found it with a bloody butt. So bad it was literally just oozing. I work for a vet so the chicken went with me to work. After the blood dried we could see obvious wounds so we figured it was the others bullying this particular chick.
Well I'm not so sure now. The vet I work for doesn't treat chickens so he unfortunately can't help me. The pecked at wounds seemed to have healed, but the chicken seems to always have a wet butt. None of my others do. This one is living with a bunch of chicks I just go too so it is concerning it will make the babies sick though they all act normal.
Today I had her/him outside and my dog was licking it's butt. Gross. Well I realized why. It's almost like water just dribbles slowly out of it. I feel so bad! I just want it to be better so it can play with the others it's age in the yard but it's been caged up do it won't be pecked at.
