You can add me. I have bantam Spangled Orloff's. I have been following the thread for a while, not sure if I've posted any pics of them or not.

LOVE this breed! they are sooo sweet and very tame. Our roo is fiercely protective of his ladies around other birds but is sweet as can be to even my kids. This pic is of my daughter, snuggling with 'Brownie' one of our hens.

Hi everyone, I just spent the last hour & half reading the thread. I was refered to this thread, and it is so nice to see the pictures of everyone else's Orloffs.
I've only got about 20 right now and all around 3 months old I think. From two different lines, Welp (out of NM I'm told) and a second line from a breeder in Iowa that was selling out. I love the breed, but mine are going to take a long time to get them true to standard.
I'll try and post pictures as soon as this rain moves on out.

Me, too! Pics please!

I can't wait til my bantam spangled pullets grow up...it's taking for-ever! My little spangled rooster is beginning to get impatient.

Right now, I've got a black frizzle bantam Cochin hen in with him to keep the poor guy company. I wonder what those chicks would look like?

I bet they'd be interesting.

No, they're no longer listed in the APA standard...but they once were. It's a real shame, too...they're magnificent birds. Speaking for myself, it doesn't really bother me that they're not a recognized breed. They're by no means a mutt, though.

I raise several APA standard breeds, and the Orloff is at the top of my favorite list.

As for free ranging....mine are excellent free rangers. I do find that the roosters are a little "lazy" though.

The boys prefer to stay close to the coop while the girls go in search of goodies.

WOW! I am so excited to see this thread! When i first started in chickens i looked at book after book - and the orloff i always loved - but heard they were so rare so didnt even think to look for a thread! I will have to read allof this - If it is speckled or spngled i always love it - tho i am having hard enough time locating quality Speckled Sussex stock -
I have read the Orloffs are calm - but really are not overly in need of human contact? Almost cat like? lol

Mine are very calm and low key. They don't freak out and run from me when they see me. Actually, all of them will eat goodies out of my hands. But they don't want to be caught or held. They just want to be adored from "afar".
