Rusty the Rooster

Ditto to that. I've had over 10 different Marans cockerels and over 20 pullets/hens. . . The girls take a while to get some trust, in my opinion, but the boys are quite often very laid-back and friendly.

Maybe I just spend too much time with my bachelors.

Good to know that it is not just my girl that is a bit stand offish. Rusty was raised by a broody with a cochin chick so maybe that helped his being so friendly.

He's pretty. His coloring looks a lot like my partridge cochin roo. Mine's a cute little guy and really works my girls, but he's not what I consider to be friendly. I had to chase him down to get a hold of him when he had blood on his foot last week. And I didn't raise him as I did all my others. I'm looking to re-home him since my black australorp girl turned out to be a roo. There's only room for one roo in my coop come winter, and I want to keep the one I raised.

I love your name though my name is Elizabeth and been going by Ellie for longer than I remember, is it your real name, you are the first person I have ever met that even uses that name

Naw, he's not grumpy NOW that he has finally gotten to do his manly duty, lol.

My name is actually Eleanor but I have gone by Ellie all of my life. Well, except when my mom was annoyed with me. Then it was Eleanor!

Thanks for saying what I think, that it doesn't matter if he has "too much copper" on his chest, I still think he is eye candy for the girls. He is very nice too.
